The Gower Peninsula has several examples of raised beaches. However, this raised beach is in fact a Solifluction Terrace, formed due to the slumpling of material down the slope of Rhosilli Downs, into which the sea has cut, and not a raised beach at all. The raised beaches of South Gower are also known as Patella beach after the fossils represented with in their makeup.
