Suočavanje s prošlošću
Suočavanje sa prošlošću u najširem smislu označava napore građana, nevladinih organizacija ili, u nekim slučajevima, vlasti pojedinih država da otkriju i objasne određene događaje iz bliske prošlosti, prvenstveno vezanih za rat, ugnjetavanje, genocid, likvidaciju, mučenje, zatvaranje političkih protivnika ili raznim "neželjenim" društvenim grupama, kako bi iz njih izvukli neku lekciju, tj. sprečili ih da se ponavljaju u budućnosti. U užem smislu, to podrazumeva aktivnosti u Zapadnoj i kasnije Ujedinjenoj Nemačkoj nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, čiji je cilj bio osvetljavanje doba Trećeg rajha i uklanjanje ostataka nacističke ideologije iz javnog života; Ponekad, kao sinonim za suočavanje sa prošlošću, koristi se nemački termin Vergangenheitsbewältigung.[1][2]
