Mitologija Asteka
Mitologija Asteka je zbirka mitova astečke civilizacije Centralnog Meksika.[1] Asteci su bili grupe koje su govorile navatl jezik i živele su u centralnom Meksiku i veliki deo njihove mitologije je sličan mitologiji drugih mezoameričkih kultura. Prema legendi, različite grupe koje su trebale da postanu Asteci stigle su sa severa u dolinu Anahuak oko jezera Tekskoko. Veruje se da Meksiko vodi njihov bog Hummingbird, „levoruki kolibri” ili „kolibri sa juga” kojeg su videli na ostrvu u jezeru Tekskoko u kandžama orla što je protumačeno kao proročanstvo da treba da nasele to mesto. Asteci su zato na tom mestu izgradili svoj grad Tenočtitlan, sagradivši veliko veštačko ostrvo koje se danas nalazi u centru Meksika. Ova legenda je prikazana i na grbu Meksika.
