Aleksandar Dima (fr. Alexandre Dumas; Viler Kotre, 24. jul 1802 — Djep, 5. decembar 1870)[1][2] je bio francuski književnik.[3] Otac je Aleksandra Dime Sina, takođe pisca i dramaturga.[4]
Aleksandar Dima Otac jedan je od začetnika takozvanog romana — feljtona. Talentovan pisac bogate fantazije i živog duha, podjednako uspješno se okušao u pozorišnim djelima i u istorijskim romanima. Najpoznatije mu je djelo avanturistički roman „Tri musketara“, poznat po zanimljivom zapletu, mnogim pustolovinama i simpatičnim i hrabrim junacima.[5] Uticaj Diminih istorijsko-avanturističih romana osetio se gotovo u celoj evropskoj popularnoj literaturi. Napisao je, što sam, što u saradnji s drugima, oko 300 romana i drama. Za pozorište je zaslužan jer je napisao prvu istorijsku romantičnu dramu „Henrik III i njegov dvor“.[6] Napisao je i brojne članke u časopisima i putopisne knjige; njegovi objavljeni radovi su ukupno imali preko 100.000 stranica.[7] Duma je 1840-ih osnovao Istorijski teatar u Parizu.
Njegov otac, general Tomas-Aleksandar Duma Davi de la Pejtori, rođen je u francuskoj koloniji Sent-Domingo (današnji Haiti) od Aleksandra Antoana Davija de la Pejtora, francuskog plemića, i Mari-Seset Duma, afričke robinje.[8][9] Kada je imao 14 godina, Tomasa-Aleksandra je njegov otac odveo u Francusku, gde se školovao na vojnoj akademiji i ušao u vojsku, gde je imao uspešnu karijeru.
