Gelastops (Gelastops — „veselo lice”) je izumrli rod placentalnih sisara iz kladusa Scrotifera, koji je u periodu srednjeg paleocena nastanjivao područje Sjeverne Amerike.[2][3][4]

Istorija klasifikacije[uredi | uredi izvor]
Rod Gelastops je originalno bio opisan kao predstavnik izumrli porodica Deltatheridiidae[1] i Leptictidae.[1][5] U kasnijim istraživanjima je ovaj rod uvršten kao predstavnik izumrli porodica Palaeoryctidae[6][7] i Cimolestidae.[4][8] U istraživanju iz 2015. godine je rod Gelastops bio uvršten kao predstavnik miroreda Ferae.[9] Ovaj rod je u mnogim istraživanjima prepoznat kao blizak srodnik izumrlog roda Acmeodon[1][7][9][10]
