Dvorana slavnih i muzej rokenrola (engl. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum) muzej je koji se nalazi na samoj obali jezera Iri u centru Klivlenda, grada u američkoj državi Ohajo. Posvećen je arhiviranju istorije nekih od najpoznatijih i najuticajnijih umetnika, producenata, inženjera i drugih koji su na neki bitan način uticali na muzičku industriju. Taj deo grada je renovirala luka Nort Kost.

Prvi uvršten u Dvoranu slavnih rokenrola je Čak Beri, 23. januara 1986. godine, a predstavio ga je Kit Ričards, gitarista grupe The Rolling Stones.[4]

Fondacija i osnivanje[uredi | uredi izvor]

Dvoranu slavnih rokenrola je 20. aprila 1983. osnovao Ahmet Ertegun, osnivač i predsednik izdavačke kuće Atlantic Records. On je okupio tim koji je uključivao advokata Suzan Evans, urednika i izdavača časopisa Roling stoun Jana S. Venera, advokata Alena Grubmana i izdavače ploča Sejmora Stajna, Boba Krasnova i Norin Vud. Fondacija je počela da indukuje umetnike 1986, ali dvorana još uvek nije imala svoju lokaciju. Komisija za pretragu je razmatrala nekoliko gradova, uključujući i Memfis (dom za Sun Studios i Stax Records), Detroit (dom za Motown Records), Sinsinati (dom za King Records), Njujork i Klivlend.[5]

Klivlend je lobirao za muzej, navodeći da je disk-džokej radija WJW Alan Frid skovao termin rokenrol[6] i snažno promoviše novi žanr — a da je Klivlend lokacija Fridovog Mundog koronejšon boula, prvog velikog rokenrol koncerta. Pored toga, Klivlend naveo radio-stanicu WMMS, koja je odigrala ključnu ulogu u organizovanju nekoliko velikih dela u SAD tokom 1970-ih i 1980-ih, uključujući i umetnika Dejvid Bouija, koji je počeo svoju prvu američku turneju u tom gradu, ali i Brusa Springstina i dr.[7] Klivlend je bila jedna od primarnih lokacija za turneju većine rok bendova.

Gradski lideri u Klivlendu su obećali 65 miliona dolara javnog novca za finansiranje izgradnje. Peticiju je potpisalo 600.000 fanova, čime je izglasan Klivlend ispred Memfisa i rangiran prvi u anketi iz 1986. časopisa USA Today, u kojoj su pitali čitaoce gde bi trebalo da se nalazi dvorana.[8] Dana 5. maja 1986. godine, Dvorana slavnih rokenrola izabrala je Klivlend kao trajan dom Dvorane slavnih i muzeja rokenrola.
