Centralna obaveštajna agencija (engl. Central Intelligence Agency), poznata po svom akronimu CIA[a] (od engl. CIA), jeste američka obaveštajna agencija zadužena za prikupljanje i analizu podataka o stranim vladama i korporacijama, ali i pojedincima, i dostavljanje tih podataka raznim resorima Vlade SAD.[7] Sekundarnu ulogu predstavljaju propagandne aktivnosti i aktivnosti u odnosima sa javnošću, objavljivanje javnih i tajnih podataka, tačnih i lažnih (kontrašpijunaža), i uticaj na druge da deluju u interesima Vlade SAD. Treća funkcija agencije je da deluje kao skrivena ruka Vlade SAD, sprovodeći tajne operacije, po smernicama predsednika SAD.
Cija je osnovana 18. septembra 1947. godine, a sedište joj se nalazi u gradu Langliju, u Virdžiniji. Njena preteča bila je Kancelarija za strateške usluge, a na njenom čelu se nalazio Vilijam Donovan, koji se danas smatra „ocem” obeju organizacija.
Direktor Cije Džordž Tenet je svedočio pred jednim američkim kongresnim komitetom da je bombardovanje ambasade NR Kine u Beogradu bilo jedino bombardovanje tokom NATO bombardovanja Jugoslavije, koje je organizovala i rukovodila njegova agencija,[8] kao i da je Cija identifikovala pogrešne koordinate za jugoslovenski vojni cilj u istoj ulici.[9] Mediji su objavili da je Cija tokom 2021. godine evakuisala svog obaveštajnog agenta koji je služio u Srbiji nakon što se sumnjalo da je žrtva neuroloških napada poznatih kao Havanski sindrom.[10]
